Why I Finally Built My Own Website
On claiming my corner of the internet, and why it doesn't matter if anyone sees it.
It’s Late in the Game, and I Don’t Care
Everyone tells you to build a personal website early in your career. “Personal branding,” they say. “Establish your online presence.” I nodded along for years while doing absolutely nothing about it.
Now, in 2026, I’ve finally built one. Not because I suddenly care about personal branding. Not because I think it’ll land me a job. But because I want a place that’s mine.
A Place to Curate What I Do
Social media is rented land. Platforms rise and fall. Algorithms decide who sees what. Your content lives or dies at the mercy of someone else’s business model.
This website is different. It’s my corner of the internet. A place where I can:
- Document the projects I’m working on
- Write about things I’m learning
- Share thoughts that don’t fit into a tweet
- Look back in five years and see what I was thinking
No algorithm. No engagement metrics. No pressure to go viral.
Does Anyone Need to See This?
Honestly? No.
I’m not writing to build an audience. I’m writing because the act of articulating ideas helps me understand them better. I’m writing because I want a record of my growth. I’m writing because staying silent has cost me too much already.
If someone stumbles across this and finds something useful, great. If this site never gets more than a handful of visitors, also fine. The primary audience is future me.
The Tech Stack (Because I Know You’re Curious)
Built with Astro—fast, simple, and perfect for content-focused sites. Styled with Tailwind CSS because life’s too short to write vanilla CSS for hobby projects. Deployed to Cloudflare because it’s free and fast.
Nothing revolutionary. Just tools that get out of the way and let me focus on the content.
What’s Next
I have no grand plan. I’ll write when I have something to say. I’ll add projects as I build them. I’ll iterate on the design when I get bored of it.
The point isn’t to optimize for growth or build a content empire. The point is to have a place that reflects who I am and what I’m interested in.
It might be late in the game, but I’m finally here.
Welcome to my corner of the internet.
